With the help of your local guide, you’ll uncover the history and atmosphere of this vibrant fishing community.
Set against a backdrop of the majestic Lofoten peaks, you’ll visit Svinøya, the oldest part of Svolvær, where you can see the famous stockfish drying racks and red rorbuer, former fishing cabins. The season here for skrei , Norwegian Arctic cod, runs from January to April. You’ll get insight into how important this fishing season is for the community and learn about life in Lofoten today.
Practical information
Remarks/requirements: Fish is only hung on drying racks in March/April. Wearing snow grips on footwear is recommended.
Walking and activity information: Involves moderate physical activity on relatively level surfaces and gentle terrain. There are approximately 2 miles of walking.
